EVENT COORDINATOR

PLANNING THE DETAILS

From start to finish, as an Event Coordinator, I was a point person for each of my clients throughout their planning process. This included choosing a caterer, discussing and diagramming setup options, working with external vendors, and planning an efficient timeline.

WORKING FOR A NON-PROFIT

The creative challenge that comes with external special events at a mission-based organization is the heavy importance of upholding policies and aesthetics, not interfering with mission activities, and evaluating the greater needs between both parties - the client and the institution.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

As a newbie to GR, it has been great to build relationships with fellow colleagues and the various associations, organizations, and parties that book events. I also love the relationships that develop with other vendors in the industry. Caterers, Florists, Audio Visual Companies, Photographers, and everyone in between.

CATERING

Helping build a menu that fits an event style and budget is truly an enjoyable piece of the pie. At Meijer Gardens, I have enjoyed working with the Culinary Team to execute tastings, build custom menus, and explore new ways to display and serve.

FLOOR COVERAGE

"Floor" is used lightly when working at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park! This is due to the vast space and locations the park offers for events. Waterfalls, Bridges, and Conservatories, oh my!

ENRICHMENT COMMITTEE

Spending time on the Enrichment Committee was one of my favorite things! Planning events and other activities to make the workplace enjoyable and also give back to the surrounding community was an absolute joy. It solidified my belief that workplaces can and should be fulfilling and include ways to get to know each other in different environments.

Event Coordinator

Working in two large event venues allowed me to manage a diverse repertoire of events. From meetings to concerts, I was exposed to many different clientele from across the world. I was able to take each client through the start to finish process of bringing their event to our venue. This included creating AutoCad floorplans, event check sheets, and the final invoices. Communicating with catering, vendors, performers, medics, security, and other facility staff. Ordering transportation, linens, and other equipment. Arranging all labor needed for the event including ushers, security, IATSE, Forklift Drivers, etc. Creating a master timeline of all parties and moving parts, as well as all other required duties to make the show go on.

Venue Management Intern

Artifact Events is a unique wedding, gala and event venue in the  Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. As an Intern, I processed leads and created proposals using Gather, The Knot, and WeddingWire, made seating charts using AllSeated, assisted with giving and scheduling site tours, and helped manage the venue during events.

Production Coordinator

The Wrights of Spring Festival is an annual celebration of new plays by Theatre School Playwrights. Held at the end of each May, the two-week festival provides playwriting students an intensive developmental laboratory and showcase for their work. The festival affords them the experience to refine their work in collaboration with TTS students and faculty from every discipline - and it's free to the public.

Producing this festival involved me in every aspect. I was planning & scheduling, recruiting volunteers, working with the marketing coordinator, the events coordinator, participants, and hired directors, as well as leading event set up, management, and coordination.

FOURTH WAVE BUNNY

Stage Manager

"An immersive experience loosely inspired by Gloria Steinem’s article, 'A Bunny’s Tale', the show is an interactive workshop and public conversation centered around body agency, with purpose to define, explore, and create momentum towards the fourth wave feminist movement." - Madi Delk, Director

I had the pleasure of stage managing this show, helping devise it's content, making the programs, and helping with the post-show conversation.
